A Little Habit of Joy: Bringing Flowers Home

I have a little habit I love: bringing fresh flowers home. Sometimes it’s just one bloom, sometimes a handful, sometimes it's an armful paired with roots and clumps of dirt. I do this for no reason at all, really—just because I can. I love how instantly our home feels lighter, happier, like it’s breathing a little better. I love how I feel that same way the minute they are in water on my table. Setting them there makes me feel like I just stumbled upon a love letter written and left just for me. It’s such a small thing, but it makes everyday feel a bit more like a gift.

This habit of mine is what inspired my new petite flower collection. I wanted to capture that same effortless joy on canvas—the kind of bouquets that make you smile without asking for anything in return. Soft, simple, a little French, a little cheerful, and very easy to love.

These paintings are like keeping a little patch of that habit on your wall. A daily reminder that life feels brighter with a splash of color, a touch of warmth, and yes—sometimes just one lovely little flower.

As my daughter said in a journal post she wrote this past week- not everything we do has to make sense. And I agree... not every flower bouquet needs to make sense or have an occasion. Let's just bring the flowers home for the love of it all. The love of home, the love of color, the love of doing things for joy.
